A Mother’s Prayer: 17 of 30

Father,

Little ones are looking up to their big brother. Please allow this time to be one of learning for them. And it would be super cool if in the end we all can celebrate together.

I understand this may be something he needs to go through on his own, but I pray it brings us all back together, closer than we ever were before.

A Mother’s Prayer: 16 of 30

Father,

You work miracles everyday. You work in the hearts of your children. Lord, claim our son as your own and work on him. Transform him. Stir within him. Make him uneasy and restless. Cause him to hunger you. 

If he’s not going to turn to us, Lord we want him to turn to you. We trust him in your hands. Your will is always better than our own.

We love him.

A Mother’s Prayer: 14 of 30

Faher,

Please bring us closer, instead of farther apart. Please provide opportunities to speak to him. Please allow truth to shine down on all of us. Please continue to stir within us and force us to grow.

We see movement Lord, and it’s encouraging. Thank you for the opportunity for our daughter to get to spend time with him. We just ask that you give us wisdom to know when it’s appropriate, and when it’s harmful. When she is with him, please keep her emotionally safe so that his poor choices don’t negatively affect her.

Keep us all in position to grow and mature in this new stage of our relationship.

A Mother’s Prayer: 13 of 30

Father,

I dreamt last night that he was here. It was like nothing had happened. In my dream I tried not to move or even look at him because I was afraid I’d spook him and he’d leave.

The whole night I just laid there listening to him talk to his siblings. All I could do was be still. So that’s what I did. 

In your time, God, I know. We will give this time. I know it’s not being wasted. You often work in the silence.

Thank you for the dream.

A Mother’s Prayer: 11 of 30

Father,

Please let him know how much we care. Please help him set down any issue that may be keeping him from us. Reveal to us if we are that issue. If the issue is in the form of others, please silence their influence on him.

Help him figure out what is truth and what are lies. 

He’s turned his back on so many, and he trusts few. We would really like to be a safe place for him when  a time comes. Please help keep that part of his heart soft.

A Mother’s Prayer: 10:30

Father,

Life is not the same without him. His sister misses him terribly and I don’t quite know how to ease her pain. Lord, please use this time to fix us, all of us, so this hurt will have purpose.

I trust that you are at work, and in time we will all be reunited, and better than we were before. 

If Mike and I are doing something wrong, please show us. We truly don’t want to go through this again with each kid who turns 18, if we don’t have to.

We love all of them.
